Forecasted Color Trends 2007
By Mary Lindsey Wilson, ASID Wilson & Wilson Designs www.livebeautifully.net
Influences Include:
Exotic/Multicultural - While travel is becoming increasingly more challenging for many of us, home has become our destination of choice. We are looking for refreshing + international inspirations. Think spice infused hues - Tuscan hillsides, Moroccan bazaars, the plains of Africa-Rich = saturated corals, pear, topaz + warm browns.
Indoors/out-Natural Elements - Vacation? Who has time? Bring the outdoors in. Clear blues, loamy brown, indigo, coral and jade. This also includes a new dimension of the neutral palette with metallic finishes.
Relaxation + Balance - Speaks to our need for balance with the 24/7 world in which we live + work. Soft fabrics + colors. Spring green + yellow blues. Our fascination with aqua + teal continues (pale peach, sand.)
Vintage/Retro - There's a new spin on colors from the 50's, 60's, 70's + 80's. Nostalgia is strong.......we want the cozy comfort of the familiar. Orchid, pinks, teal, storm, silvery grays. White + black with punches of color.
Color Ranges - Pale butter, Lemon, muddy gold to topaz. Orange, apricot, rose gold, coral, pinks to red. Shades of aqua, iridescence, cobalt-midnight, indigo. Greens will continue to be very yellowed - pear, split pea. Plum, eggplant, purpled browns to espresso ( the "browning" of many colors - i.e. burnt almond, browned butter)
