FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flatonia’s Czhilispiel One of Top Fourteen Festivals in Texas Highways
A good bowl of chili goes a long ways and when you include pie auctions, golf, domino tournaments, jalapeno-eating and pie-baking contests, rock-climbing, petting zoos, parade, tricycle and potato-sack races, along with musicians, magicians, and comedians, you've got a State "hit" for folks of all ages, or at least Texas Highways thinks so.
Texas Highways has spotlighted Flatonia's 36th Annual Czhilispiel in September's issue as one of fourteen top festivals to attend in Texas this fall. They additionally visited with Commissioner James Kubecka and wife Judy, who met through mutual friends at the Czhilispiel over 20 years ago. Billed as the "World's Largest Tented Biergarten", the Czhilispiel has grown in leaps and bounds and is the second-largest in Texas. "Local businesses continue to see visitors return throughout the year for some serious shopping and to enjoy the country atmosphere and history that our community possesses," states Flatonia Chamber President Dennis Geesaman.
Fifty to Eighty artisans are expected to exhibit their craftsmanship at the event including leather crafts, Indian art, metal, and woodworking.
