ARTIST'S STATEMENT/BIOGRAPHY:
Born and raised in Southern California, Wendy majored in Fine Arts through High
School, though considers herself, for the most part, self trained in her
mediums.
After raising a family and hobby farming in British Columbia, Canada for much
of her adult life Wendy found herself back on the coast of BC and solo where
she started 'dabbling' in the arts at age 40.
Frustrated by limited funds, lack of technique and knowledge of current
mediums, Wendy attended workshops with Canadian Artists:
Ed Hill - Acrylic Technique
Lyall Nanson - Watercolor Technique
George Gamache and Micheline La Rose - Papier Mache Sculpting
Barbara R. Brown - Clay Sculpting
The fibre art she works with are self taught through books and trial and error.
Attending life drawing sessions at the Sunshine Coast Art Center, BC Canada and
packing a sketch book, camera, guitar and journal on her further travels,
brought new and constant inspiration into Wendy's life.
Wendy currently calls Sedona, Arizona home except for her financial survival.
Wendy currently works as home and pet caretaker in her sisters home in Georgia,
USA half of each year.
When not sculpting or painting immaculately detailed paintings or murals,
designing imaginative textured wearable art, or writing and illustrating you
will most likely find her walking and communing with nature. Just as likely you
will find her guitar at her side creating lyrics, poetry and their rhythms and
melodies. After listening to Wendy's smooth sounds, and viewing/handling her
well finished art pieces, many are surprised that she had essentially put aside
her creative dreams and visions for 20 + years.
Wendy's current focus is to have her work in shows and galleries in her new
home towns on both the east and west side of the continent.
