ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

Artwork should be more than just a representation. In my paintings I express my emotions about the world I view. In various media I explore color, shape, and the feelings that the scene or model produce. Color, expression, movement, and the wonder of creation are all part of my work. I am influenced by my own spiritual beliefs and by the work of artists I admire. I hope the viewer will share in my sense of wonder at the world and all of its beauty.

My figurative work is often done directly from the model and which allows me to experience a direct connection with the subject. That direct connection allows for the emotional attachment and that is what, through the use of line and color, I hope you will share with me.

BIOGRAPHY:

Rona Lesser is an artist and art educator. She has been painting and drawing for over 25 years, having taken courses and workshops from many different instructors. She has a Master's in education and Jewish studies and works as an art educator in several different programs. She has shown in many juried shows in Houston, and has had work in area galleries and other sites.
