ART MEDIUM:
Clay Sculpture Sculpture
ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
This Birmingham artist's work is as diversified as her life. Having always loved the out doors and people, her passion and focus is in organic ceramic sculpture, influenced by nature, reflecting the world around her. Aspiring as an artist, to capture a mere glimpse of God's beauty in the form of human, floral or animal depictions, is her goal.
ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY:
With an art background it was not difficult for Nada to come back to clay as her medium of expression after years of raising a family. A number of successful shows and numerous awards have made her name stand out among local artists in the Southeast. Nada's work may be seen in local galleries and shows in the southeastern states.
Nada teaches classes in handbuilding and sculpture in the community setting, bringing new artist to the area.
CURRENT WORK:
Clay is Nada's chosen medium and Raku her favorite glaze technique. The extremes of nature's elements, fire, air and water create the effect on her work. Each piece is unique, impossible to duplicate. This process is a constant surprise and challenge to the artist. Reduction glazing on clay sculpture is a delight to behold. Wanting to stay with nature, her unglazed stoneware sculpture shows a crude vitality that captures your eye. Elegant simplicity characterizes her work.
CAREER BACKGROUND:
Showing works in local galleries was how Nada began her career in showing her work. Later the local shows drew her to a new arena where she could interact with her customers. Since people are her inspiration she has no trouble interacting with the public, thus building her knowledge of body language and facial expressions.
