ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

My paintings are filled with personal marks and images. My paintings use abstract shapes and patterns as well as dream-like figurative forms, many with a whimsical, playful feeling. They are imaginary worlds made up of mountain shapes, trees, birds, rivers, interwoven line and vivid colors. I have a strong interest in mythology, dreams and symbolism. I love the idea that one's marks are a visual language. I see my paintings as my own visual language and I'm so happy when someone feels a connection to my art.

November 2009

ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY:

I was born in Seattle, Washington and earned a Bachelor's in Fine Art from Washington State University in 1981. I then preceded to work in the graphic arts industry mainly in advertising. At the same time, I was creating a variety of fine art ranging from charcoal drawings and mixed media collage to acrylic paintings. I've been showing my work for close to 30 years.

CURRENT WORK:

"My current work focuses on the idea that everything in our universe is connected. Everything is in a relationship with everything else. This conviction is based on the fact that everything is made up of energy which is shown as glowing elements in my paintings. Recently I've been using a dot pattern in my work which also represents connectivity."

CAREER BACKGROUND:

After college where I earned a fine arts degree, I began showing my work. I have exhibited in Seattle, WA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; and Bend, OR. Collections include the School of Visual Arts in New York City as well as private collections in California, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, Washington D.C. and Germany to name a few.
