ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
My work interprets and represents the peace and serenity that I find in the world around me. In my work I find contentment and a fascination with color, line and curve. I create a vision that grounds me and brings me joy, balance. My work preserves moments of peace and beauty that capture an instant in time that called me to escape.
I enjoy a subject and relish on the medium it calls for. I work in oils, colored pencil, acrylic and watercolor. My work is interpretative and impressionist for some works, realist and representational for others. I am an observer and I like to recreate what I see in the vision I bring through my life.
Always on the path to master the work tools, I am not afraid to continue to learn. I work with any subject that expresses form, color or peace. I find what is in it that represents calm and strength, that which reflects its beauty and uniqueness and I strive to release it for all to see.
ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY:
I was born in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where from an early age, I participated in an artistic environment at home and school, learning that in art, everything is possible. I returned to school choosing a creative program offering a broad scope. I studied design and took evening art classes while working at my uncle's architectural firm to pay for school and supplies.
By graduation, I was assitant manager of a design firm managing operations, marketing and special projects. I continued to paint and completed a collection of miniature colonial churches.
After a career in public administration, completion of a manuscript and receiving a Bachelour of Business Administration, I dedicated my new-found time to creating art on a regular basis. I realized that art was an essential part of who I was and therefore, a vital part of my form of expression.
Over the last seven years I have create a body of work representing portraits and figures; wildlife, landscapes and still li
fe. These works have been exhibited in Houston, Galveston, Rockport, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, Bellaire and Sugar Land, Texas.
I belong to two studio groups where I practice figure drawing and portrait painting every week.
