ARTIST'S STATEMENT:

My intention is to create abstract work that is both elegant and beautiful. Since elegance implies simplicity, I am seeking to find expression with a minimalist abstraction while also occasionally using geometric and on-geometric shapes. Beauty and Simplicity will come from depth and richness of color, overall design, as well as a minimally "cluttered" surface. I am in constant search for my truest expression.

Each painting taks me to roads traveled as well as worlds unknown and provides challenges for growth and humility.

By working in series I create opportunities for breaking the boundaries that separate style and content towards my fullest expression in the chosen medium. I honor my need to express the many themes that beckon me by choosing whatever forms and contexts are appropriate for their realization. Art, to me, is the equivalent of freeing my imagination from its formal bonds to pursue errands of truth. I use it to express - in the words of Wallace Stevens - "a dissociated abundance of being".

ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY:

I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I spent 8 ½ years in Israel, where I obtained a B.A. is English and Spanish Literatures and pursued studies towards an M.A. in Romance Languages.

In my artistic formative years I was influenced by Kandinsky, O'Keefe and Rousseau. Currently, I feel a kinship with the exponents of the New York School - Rauschenberg, Rivers, Motherwell, Rothko.

My two passions are painting and animal rights/welfare and they are both equally strong. I am an activist on behalf of animals as well as a journeywoman seeking to find my truest, most personal expression in oils and encaustics.

I share my home in Scottsdale with my husband Stan (a poet, lyricist and marketing consultant) and 4 pets.

CURRENT WORK:

"Zen Series" in oils; abstracts in encaustics
