ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
"I cannot recall a time in my life without art. As an art teacher, my mother always made sure I had art supplies. I sometimes believe I look at things with an unconscious eye for how it could look in a painting. With my love of color and realistic style, I paint subjects I like, often focusing on a portion of a larger scene. Traveling extensively, I incorporate memories into art, but you won't find paintings of major landmarks. My daughter's teddy bear collection has prompted a 14 year series of paintings of the beloved stuffed animals. Many paintings include the American flag, a reflection my patriotism"
ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY:
Anne Lamkin Kinder is a watercolor artist who divides her time between Houston, Texas and Crested Butte, Colorado. Anne received her B. S. in Art Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She served six years on the Texas Commission on the Arts. Presently she is on the Houston Advisory Board of the International Bank of Commerce and the advisory boards of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and University of Houston Honors College. Anne is one of the founders and a director of the Crested Butte Community Foundation.
CAREER BACKGROUND:
Anne has numerous paintings in corporate and individual collections, including President and Mrs. George W. Bush and former President and Mrs. Bush. Her work has been shown in New York City, Florida, Kansas and Missouri as well as Colorado and Texas. In Houston, she shows annually with Studio 95 and is both a Signature Member and Lifetime Member of the Watercolor Art Society, Houston.
