"I approach the easel with the intent to compose from memories, images "in my mind's eye". Once I start a "series" of a specific image, I build upon those thoughts with new variations, just as Monet did in his "Haystacks" series. My paintings are not of a specific scene, but are of a sense of place, in a moment of time. My major art medium is pastel and I also work with mixed media. My art career has included the mediums of oil, watercolor and acrylic. I consider myself a colorist, having studied with the greatest American landscape colorist, Wolf Kahn. My intention is to involve the viewer with lively, expressive strokes of the pastel stick. Color and light are my tools, using both to create mood and emotional impact."
